How much weight can a stairlift hold?

Stannah stairlifts weight limit

What is the weight capacity of a stairlift? It’s a common concern, as many people worry that a stairlift might not be able to carry them up the stairs safely. Fortunately, Stannah stairlifts are robust and designed to meet your needs. However, the weight capacity of each stairlift model is different, so it’s important to understand the specifics.

Our heavy duty stairlifts are built sturdy, so you can ride with confidence. The maximum weight capacity for a straight stairlift is 350 lbs. While our standard curved models have a weight capacity of 300 lbs., the Model 260 Plus option can accommodate up to 352 lbs.

Weigh capacity can vary, depending on the the chair model and rail type you select, so it’s important to talk things over with one of our experts beforehand.

What does a heavy duty stairlift look like?

When you think of a heavy duty stairlift, you may be picturing a robust-looking, bulky chair that takes up the width of your staircase. But, when you buy a Stannah heavy-duty stairlift, that’s not the case. Our stairlifts have all been designed, first and foremost, to be safe. Their active and passive safety features ensure your safety while you glide up the stairs. But they’ve also been designed to look good and fit into your life. We know you want your stairlift to blend in to your home, so even our heavy duty stairlifts are made to match your tastes, and to look good in your home.

How? They’re customizable. You can select the type of chair you’d like and  choose the fabric and upholstery color, so your stairlift looks exactly the way you want it to look in your home.

As well as looking good, Stannah stairlifts are practical. They fold away neatly when they’re not in use, so that they’re never in your way, and other people can use the stairs comfortably.
